In the scripture reading for this Sunday found in 1 Corinthians 1: 10-18, Paul calls the people of Corinth out for being divisive. He pleads to them to find unity in understanding the Power of God through understanding the message of the Cross. The message of the Cross is contrary to most earthly wisdom, and yet in it, the offer of life in fullness is granted. Similarly, the Toronto Raptors have found a successful season through going against typical basket ball wisdom. Is there something similar between the Power of the Raptors and the Power of God? Who knows for sure, but this scripture reading sure is a blessing to ponder!

In this sermon based on John 1:29-42 John instructs some of his disciples to go off and hang with this new guy Jesus. I was struck with his ability to send two of his best to roll with a different crew. It's not everyone who so confidently directs their best away to another. Rather than adopting a competitive nature, which too many adopt in our culture today! he adopts one of a team dynamic that is perfect one to have as a member of the body of Christ!
In this sermon based on the story of the Magi coming and the Isaiah text telling us to, 'Arise your light is coming.' I explore the notion of being true to yourself along with the personal light inside you that makes you special. The Carol, O Holy Night says, 'He appeared and the soul felt it's worth.' These are all the same light that leads us not only to enjoy and accept ourselves but also to enjoy the light that shines in others.
