Today's sermon is meant for anyone struggling to be heard in a relationship, or for those in a dispute with someone you think will never understand you.  Trying to make some people understand seems like miracle work at times, but in today's scripture reading, Jesus let's us know, it's essential or else we may perish.
Based on the lectionary readings for this Sunday: Isaiah 55:1–9 - Come, buy wine and milk without money!; 1 Corinthians 10:1–13 - God will not let you be tested beyond your strength.; Luke 13:1–9 - The parable of the barren fig tree.
Many facts from John Medina's - 'Brain Rules For Baby' were quoted during this sermon.

Sermon - February 21, 2016 - Patience Patience

Patience is a major theme in the sermon for the second Sunday of Lent.  It seems like Jesus requires patience upon hearing that Herod is mad at him for helping people in the big city of Jerusalem.  Sometimes we just don't think we can scrape enough patience to deal with the smallest of things... in those times, how can we be patient, where does it come from?  Based on the Lectionary readings from Genesis 15:1–12, 17–18 - God seals the covenant with Abram and Sarai. & Luke 13:31–35 - Jesus cries over Jerusalem as a hen over her chicks.

Today is the first Sunday of Lent.  We examine the story of the temptation of Christ by the Devil.  Is the
Devil really tempting Jesus though?  He's more the Devil is doing something else, and it's something we're all a little guilty of now and then.  This sermon is based on the lectionary readings found in: Luke 4:1–13 - Jesus is tested in the desert.

Raffi is a great children's entertainer, but perhaps what's more great about his is his ability to advocate for children and what they need to thrive in this world.  This role as Child Advocate is one that lead him to write a Covenant of Child Honouring, a moment he describes as 'luminous' within his life.  Transfiguration Sunday is also a time we as Christians celebrate a luminous moment in Moses and in Christ.  Please have a listen to this sermon to discover why God wishes for us all to have an luminous moments, and how they change the course of our lives.  (http://www.cbc.ca/radio/tapestry/children-and-spirituality-part-2-1.3412058/raffi-on-why-we-need-to-honour-children-1.3413868)
Based on lectionary readings for Transfiguration Sunday - Exodus 34:29–35 - Moses is radiant as he comes down the mountain.  2 Corinthians 3:12—4:2 - We are bold in our hope.  Luke 9:28–36 - Jesus is transfigured upon the mountain.
