Has something ever happened to you that was really good? Could you define what that is? In today's lectionary reading, that exactly what Christ does... helps define what is the real definition of Good. (Acts 4:5–12; 1 John 3:16–24; John 10:11–18)

My friend, who's a teacher in Grey County, emailed me not long ago and told me he was about to be interviewed on a morning radio program. I was excited to hear him on the radio, but soon became more excited to listen to why he was interviewed! Find out more in this sermon and please know the related scripture readings are 1 John 3:1-7 and Luke 24:36b-48.
This Sunday's lectionary reading finds John excited to share some simple words about God. 'God is Light'. (1 John 1:1—2:2) In his passion to share these words, I sense a deeper yearning is being addressed in John's letter. I suspect we all have a deep yearning to have our deepest questions in life answered. Today's Easter message encourages us to ask the big questions and take them with us into worship.
For the first time in a long time I gave up something for Lent. It was tough but ended up being well worth it. One thing it taught me In today's Easter service our lectionary reading was the ressurection was from Mark's gospel. The story ends with the disciples being terrified... like Lent, Christ calls us to work a little to appreciate the final result that we celebrate on Easter morning.
