This is an Epiphany sermon and is based on the lectionary readings from (John 1:1-18; Jeremiah 31:7-14; and Psalm 147:12-20;
This past Christmas Eve I attempted to share some big words I learned while sitting through a music lesson my daughter was taking. The first word big word is Sympathetic Resonance, a word that reminds me of Christ birth into our world and also describes your important part in making that divine child's presence made more full and complete. Merry Christmas... I hope this resonates with you. (special thanks to Heather Braden)
In this sermon Joseph has a dream after hearing the stressful news that Mary is pregnant. Though he had made up his mind to leave Mary, a conversation with an Angel inspired him otherwise. This is a similar conversation that the Little Prince has with a Fox. I hope it reminds you of how much love is in your life. (based on the readings from today's lectionary scriptures - (Dec. 22, 2019). (Gospel) Matthew 1:18-25; (First Reading) Isaiah 7:10-16; Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19)
This Sunday is the advent Sunday of joy. In our scripture reading John the Baptist has been imprisoned and is losing faith, so he send a disciple to Jesus to be reassured. Jesus’ response is a delivery of Joy. (Sermon based on Isaiah 35: 1-10 and Matthew 11:2-11)
This has been such an icy day and we have been forced to cancel church. Please click on these links to find today's lectionary readings and sermon for the first Sunday of the season of Advent. Hope. Today's sermon is based on the readings from Romans 13: 11-14 and Matthew 24: 36-44.
Kanya West writes in his apologetic song entitled 'My Big Brother', says, 'At the Grammys I said that I inspired me.' Believing that your success is thanks to your own doing and is for the benefit for oneself and only oneself is a path to destruction as Jesus warns in the parable of the rich farmer who is used to teach the age old cliche, 'You can't take it with you when you go'! (Sermon based on Gospel reading from Luke 12:13-21)
